A future-proof entertainment solution for patient beds was evaluated for the new Theodor-Kocher-Haus building and the entire Insel Group. The focus was on high integrability, flexibility, and long-term operational reliability.
Background
As part of a two-stage bidding process, the Insel Group sought a new solution for patient communication and entertainment. As one of the leading digital hospitals, it had high expectations regarding functionality and integration. The requirement was for a solution that integrates existing systems such as Atiras, Cisco Unified Communications Manager, and building automation, while also enabling future expansions over a long lifecycle.
Challenges
The implementation was technically challenging. The integration into the existing IT and LAN infrastructure had to be carried out in accordance with strict security requirements. At the same time, various stakeholders had to be taken into account.
Other key issues included the distribution of multicast signals and the implementation of cardless processes.
Solution
trifact implemented an open and modular solution based on trinity. This enables flexible integration into existing systems while laying the groundwork for future expansions.
The solution includes connectivity to peripheral systems such as Atiras, as well as the integration of room control via a BACnet interface. Particular emphasis was placed on a stable system architecture and seamless integration into the existing infrastructure.

The new solution meets the high standards of a digitally oriented hospital and integrates seamlessly into the existing system landscape.
